GET INVOLVED!

Climate Action SJ is one branch of many community climate hubs across Canada with the intended purpose of raising awareness as well as helping to unify and coordinate climate action on a municipal scale.

The climate hub groups are a Canadian offshoot of the climate action movement initiated by Al Gores under the “Climate Reality Project”, which is committed to recruiting, training, and mobilising people to become powerful activists, providing the skills, campaigns, and resources to push for aggressive climate action and high-level policies that accelerate a just transition to clean energy and a sustainable future for everyone.

The Climate Hubs, including Climate Action SJ, are particularly focused on building networks and unifying local climate action initiatives to create efficiency and a much stronger voice to influence policy that supports our municipal and provincial greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

-George Bernard Shaw

MISSION

To unite leading local individuals & organisations working on Provincial & Municipal climate initiatives to grow our voice & influence more effective climate action. By unifying initiatives, we build greater support, networks, efficiency and success for climate action projects. We support Saint John regional climate action targets and will use our mandate to help hold the municipalities of Saint John, Grand Bay-Westfield, Lorneville, Rothesay, Quispamsis, and Hampton accountable for reaching these goals.

VISION

We envision Saint John to be viewed as a Canadian leader in climate action and will be holding our municipal and provincial governments accountable to their net-zero emission goal, watching SJ’s progress to 75 % reduction in emissions by 2030, and seeing our community rapidly build resilience to climate change in a way that is equitable and just.
